As the first visionary of DC Hidayah, Alhamdulillah, Farooq is in his third year serving as the Ameer of the conference. He oversees all of the planning efforts to ensure overall success of the conference.
Previously Farooq has volunteered with other organizations in various roles: President of George Mason University MSA 07-08, Ameer of Ilmfest Conference 2009, and Student Services Coordinator of Qabeelat Nurayn.
When not helping with DC Hidayah, Farooq enjoys spending time with his wife and baby son, Eesa. He also enjoys pursuing various entrepreneurial projects, his most recent being Helpbrite.com.
Omar is currently in his third year as a member of the DC Hidayah Executive board and in his second year as an undergraduate studying Civil Engineering and Technology Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland, College Park. Omar loves teaching kids and spending time with youth. It’s his passion to benefit the community, no matter the number of people. While he enjoys engaging with the youth, Omar has been able to put in the time and effort to develop DC Hidayah into a conference that educates the Muslim population and, more importantly, brings them together as one.
What he enjoys most about DC Hidayah is how it creates an energetic atmosphere for Muslims of all ages. In just one weekend every year, DC Hidayah has been able to change people’s lives and bring them closer to Allah. Each year, Omar would like to see DC Hidayah improve so that it is better and more professional than the last.
Fatimah Hoque has volunteered with various organizations and events in the local communities and at large. Known for her keen eye to detail and impressive foresight in optimization and prevention of potential pitfalls, Fatimah hopes to bring a variety of skills to an already exceptional team. Having experienced first hand the inspirational, uplifting sessions of past conferences, she is enthusiastic, excited, and grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of DC Hidayah 2012.
When she is not concocting the most efficient traffic flow for registration lines, creating lesson plan ideas for Sunday School, taking classes, studying Arabic, pursuing a Masters, cooking/baking, and working with the latest and greatest tech… you may find Fatimah enjoying time with her family, driving with the windows down, piloting small airplanes over hidden valleys, and pondering upon the incredible natural beauties of our world. Alhamdulillah.
Hospitality Services Head
Asma Ahmad joined the DC Hidayah planning team last year as Bazaar Head. She will be serving as the Hospitality Services Head for this year’s conference inshaAllah. She is currently working on her Master’s in Social Work at George Mason University. Asma is an active member of the Mustafa Center community, the GMU MSA Outreach committee, Qabeelat Nurayn, and various associations at school.
When Asma is not writing research papers or catching up with AlHuda lessons, she enjoys reading about every topic imaginable and spending time with her family. She feels privileged to have the opportunity to work with rising du’aat to help actualize a collective vision of our diverse communities uniting under the principles set forth by Allah and His Messenger (salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam).
